Planet: CO2 impact

The Belgian meat industry often tends to resorts to clichés when discussing sustainability. Moreover, the impact of meat is not only determined by the meat industry itself, but throughout the chain, from the farmer to the consumer. At Belgian Pork Group, we take the necessary initiatives to reduce our environmental impact.

Pig: antibiotics

The social standard is increasingly shifting and pig farming without antibiotics is the way forward. That is why we strive to completely eliminate antibiotics at Belgian Pork Group.

Frequent use of antibiotics paves the way for antibiotic resistance. We know that this resistance can be transmitted from animals to people. People who are in direct contact with animals such as pig farmers are much more at risk of this transmission. Antibiotic resistance is not only a public health threat. Reducing antibiotics also contributes to a more positive image of our industry.

Pig: Belgian Pork Group knows which environment each pig was raised in

Pig: Every T&W pig farmer is certified through CodiplanPLUS

Codiplan offers a sector guide and private specifications for primary production. It contains all the legal requirements that a livestock farm must meet in order to keep animals.

Belgian Pork Group asks its pig farmers to self-check at least once a year and to check all CodiplanPLUS requirements, as well as the safety requirements. The checklist is online and is monitored by Belgian Pork Group's purchasing department.

The annually completed and signed checklists can be presented at the company audit.

Pig: Pigs are fed exclusively low nutrient feed throughout the year

We at Belgian Pork Group care about the planet and its future. It is our duty to think about this in every step and to look for improvements. The T&W pig farmer also has several opportunities to contribute to sustainable development. Investments such as solar panels, use of residual flows, use of our own raw materials, use of green energy ... contribute to this.

Every initiative that the T&W pig farmer undertakes receives our full support.

The T&W pig farmer has a plan of action regarding the management of water, waste and manure.
